Description

A permanent role within the Parks Section of the municipality, responsible for controlling weeds and insects using knapsack and other relevant equipment. The role requires safe application of pesticides according to standard work procedures, maintenance of equipment, and adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Responsibilities

• Use a knapsack and other relevant equipment/machinery to control weeds and insects.
• Safe application of all products according to standard work procedures, with consideration for the environment and public safety.
• Work with garden tools or other equipment when the knapsack or grass cutting machine is out of order.
• Understand the use of every product according to its MSDS before use.
• Responsible for the maintenance of knapsack and grass cutting machines.
• Regularly inspect equipment, tools, and machines for damage.
• Work full day on alternative short Fridays (Pay Day).
• Perform any other related ad hoc tasks as requested by management.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: Grade 10.
• Added Advantage:
• Grade 12.
• Operator's certificate on pest & weed control.
• Valid driver's license.
• PrDP (Professional Driving Permit).
• Experience:
• 1 year of work experience in the Parks section within the Local Government Authority (essential).
• At least 1 year of relevant experience in pest and weed control will be an added advantage.

• Attention to detail.
• Ability to read Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).
• Good physical health.
• Hardworking, self-disciplined, with strong leadership and motivational qualities.
